Hi there!

My name is Jing Xiao, and I am a visual storyteller. This is my little corner on the web ⛲️

know my story in 85 seconds!

WHO AM I?

My name is Jing Xiao.

* Born in 2000, I am a fortunate digital native who witness the rapid development of technology.

* Born in China, I am a creative content creator who uses the language of the lens to communicate with the whole world.

* Growing up with media, I was graduated from Shenzhen University with a bachelor’s degree in film and television communication and currently in the first year of the communication, culture, and technology master’s program at Georgetown University.

WHERE AM I GOING?

The first semester in the CCT program helps me connect the dots of communication, culture, and technology. In my course project, I used the methodology of content analysis to further understand the cultural phenomenon “glass cliff”. I developed a communication plan for a pearl brand in which the power of working moms is highlighted. I also have a deeper understanding of interaction design by discussing it with classmates from various backgrounds.

I believe that in the era of web3.0. Technology, like “π”, can stimulate the great potential of art and create infinite possibilities for the future culture industry. Therefore, in the future life story, I  want to delve into the journey of using tech to be a better storyteller.

WHY AM I HERE?

In Chinese, my first name “Jing 静” stands for not moving or still, but in this era of rapid change and uncertainty, I enjoy being an adventurer who attempts to break boundaries in my life journey.

* break boundaries between different culture

Traditional culture never fails to fascinate me. As a filmmaker, I took inspiration from the art technique of traditional Chinese ink painting and symmetrical composition in paper-cut, which gained considerable encouragement from the western audience. As different film aesthetic styles are just like different languages, through the medium of film, human joys and sorrows can be connected and different cultures can reach mutual understanding.

* break the boundary between digital media and traditional media

Amidst the empty living room, I put down my phone and raised my eyes only to see the dark TV screen around which my family of three generations used to gather. A sudden feeling of loss struck me and I had to wonder what had been taken away by the rapid development of digital technology. Will TV get killed?

That is why my first job is to participate in the transition of an entertainment TV Channel and find that media convergence is the key to a “media renaissance”.

* break the boundary between technical ideas and public audience

Working in tech companies including Bytedance and Tencent, I was keeping telling stories of tech brands. For example, I have written an article to discuss the development of “document” technology from the perspective of human civilization development.
